Five Toronto galleries are presenting a career survey exhibition by pioneering artist-activists Carole Condé and Karl Beveridge. This grassroots initiative will be the artists’ first large Toronto exhibit since their controversial AGO show (1976) at the outset of their collaboration. Featuring their staged photography, Public Exposures also examines the scope and influence of their activist collaboration in the areas of artists’ rights, cultural policy, and labour arts.

Working in collaboration with The Public Exposures Collective, the coalition of presenting galleries includes: A Space Gallery, Urban Space Gallery, Trinity Square Video, Prefix Institute of Contemporary Art, and the YYZ Artists’ Outlet, all located on the first floor of 401 Richmond Street. Presented in partnership with the Scotiabank CONTACT Photography Festival and the Mayworks Festival. Organizations participating in the symposium and related events include: OCAD University, Workers Arts & Heritage Centre, CARFAC National, CARFAC Ontario, No One is Illegal, ONSITE Gallery, VTape, Letters & Handshakes, The Canadian Labour Congress, and UFCW Canada.
