CALL FOR PARTICIPANTS
XR as Anti-Gentrifier: Gentrification and Public Art Focus Group
Trinity Square Video & Evergreen Brick Works are looking for community members and artists to participate in a focus group surrounding gentrification and public art.
Our Researcher-in-Residence, Holly Chang has been investigating development trends and displacement patterns in the neighbourhoods surrounding the Don Valley; St James Town, Regent Park and Cabbagetown. Alongside this, they have been researching the potential of public art to respond to these issues and how Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality and Extended Reality (VR, AR, XR) could potentially supplement this. This research project aims to create socially-responsible work and promote advocacy against common gentrification trends and outcomes.
Trinity Square Video & Evergreen Brick Works will work to facilitate two separate focus groups. Each group will run for approximately 2 hours with a 5-10 minute break in the middle.
Focus Group #1 (Wednesday, October 9, 7-9PM): For Community Members in St James Town, Regent Park and Cabbagetown.
Focus Group #2 (Wednesday, October 16, 7-9PM): For Artists in St James Town, Regent Park and Cabbagetown.
An honorarium of $75 will be provided for the successful participation of the focus group. Refreshments and food will also be served.
