David Plant appointed new Managing Director of TSV

The Trinity Square Video Board of Directors is excited to announce a new member of the team!

Mr. David Plant, our new Managing Director, comes to us from a richly diverse background as a producer, businessman and graphic artist. David brings a broad range of experience in media, entertainment and technology, with depth in both the public and private sectors. He worked closely with all stakeholders in the film and television industry, working in the Mayor’s office as Toronto’s Film Commissioner, including overseeing grants for festivals and showcases of emerging talent and managing $1billion in production activity in the City.

David continued to support the growth of the digital media community during his time in the private sector, when he was in charge of National Business Development in Entertainment for Silicon Graphics Incorporated (SGI). His clients included not only Canada’s largest post-production, computer animation and visual effects companies, but also all the art colleges in every province from NSCAD to Emily Carr. He promoted the creation of the Sheridan College Computer Animation and Emerging Technology center (SCAET), worked closely with the Banff Center and sat on funding review panels for the Alberta Film Commission and Bell Fund. He was a founding sponsor of the Atlantic Digital Media Festival.

In 1998, on behalf of the company, he accepted the Sonic Foundry Outstanding Technical Achievement Award (Rockie Award) at the Banff International Television Festival. As a producer, David is a passionate supporter of new talent and co-executive produced the first feature film of emerging writer-director David Krae, which played the Film Circuit and was aired on Superchannel. He has been a member of the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television for more than 20 years serving on juries and committees and he continues to sit on industry policy committees addressing the future of the industry with a particular interest in emerging technology, public outreach and education. He is also Vice-Chair of the Executive Committee of Trinity College – University of Toronto and also sits on the Program Advisory Committee for Advanced Television, Video and Film at Sheridan College.

Welcome aboard David!
