Trinity Square Video and 8eleven Gallery co-present ‘‘°º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤º°`°º¤ø,¸MeMe PoOl / DrEaM PoOl°º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤º°`°º¤ø featuring multimedia-artist Adrienne Crossman and ceramist Kaley Flowers. Crossman and Flowers are both heavily influenced by web communities and their aesthetics, as well as the various worlds that exist online as a way of creating and exploring various identities. Their works mine the depths of the internet for “cyber artifacts” only to reinvent them.
Flowers is influenced by digital culture, online fashion, visual web languages, and the impact of life on the Internet for identity and sociality today. She explores these ideas by creating a mythology of characters and “cyber artifacts”. Flowers creates works that allow a deep yet playful consideration of our relationships with technology and objects.
Crossman manipulates elements of popular culture to re-contextualise physical and virtual objects, characters, and artifacts. In doing so, she highlights the queer sensibilities that exist in the everyday. Crossman seeks to draw attention to the queer consciousness present in the fictional worlds, and to the odd “hyperreal” space between simulation and reality that exists today.
