The Space in Between by Sailma Punjani
Supported by Tangled Arts + Disability, Inter/Access, and Ada X
Trinity Square Video is thrilled to announce that Salima Punjani will be taking over our gallery from 30 June – 23 July for her project, “The Space in Between”; a participatory, relational art project that imagines and builds a space for Mad/Deaf/Disabled artists in Toronto to come together in a soft, slow, unspectacular way.
Selected participants will partake in recorded gatherings on site, and contribute to the transformation of a living room into a public soundscape installation with vibrotactile elements. This installation will be open to the public from 21-23 July.
Opening reception: Friday, July 21, 2023
“The Space in Between” is generously funded by the Toronto Arts Council and Canada Council for the Arts.
Image description: Picture of Salima. She is a woman with curly hair and brown skin. She sits upright on the floor surrounded by soft, colorful multi-textured sculptures of body parts. The sun lights her face. She is wearing silver triangle earrings, a green beaded necklace and a flowy, batik v-neck jumpsuit with orange, pink and black stripes.
