“Is this the future of the suburban living room? Or perhaps a fantasy of a lost cyclical past…
As taught by their elders, the performers weave a connected form utilizing crocheting techniques. While the form beneath them increases in length and complexity, they settle into their domesticated roles. Seemingly detached from the screen between them are overlaying footage of hands and bodies in relation with the materials. In the repetition of the performer’s movement, the viewer is invited to come and go as they please. This is a meditation on connectivity and cyclicality.”
Performers: sarah koekkoek & Mary Dyja
Plants: sarah koekkoek & Jordanna Masi
Cinematographer: Bryce Zimmerman
