Intro to Digital Colour Grading & Theory w/ DaVinci Resolve

Tuesday August  7, 14, 21 and 28, 2018 from 6pm to 9pm with Marisa Hoicka

$ 210 Non-Member / $ 180 Member

Colour correction is an essential part of the post-production pipeline. Learn about the new technology of colour correction: this allows you to improve your video in subtle ways that will attract and interest more viewers and help you tell your story or create your project more effectively.  Learn the basics of colour grading and colour theory using DaVinci Resolve in this hands-on workshop.

You will begin to look at an image as a colourist would look at it. Learn how to set up a video in DaVinci Resolve so that you can begin to colour correct. In addition, glean basic techniques for changing colours in each area of the frame such as: using scopes, lift, gamma and gain, how to work with DaVinci Resolve’s nodes, HSL keying and more.

Next, be introduced on how to match shots – so that different cuts appear seamless to the viewer. Gain knowledge about the importance of colour theory when you are colour grading. Your introduction to colour theory will enable you to consider the different roles of primary, secondary, and tertiary colours as you begin to colour correct your own videos. Students are encouraged to bring their own videos to work on an 3.0 USB external hard drive.
